Delete your account

You can permanently delete your CareerTryOut account and all associated data at any time. There is no fee, no waiting period, and no need to explain why.

Sign in to delete

This is irreversible. Once confirmed, your profile, gameplay progress, badges, skills, friendships, and sessions are deleted in a single transaction and cannot be recovered.

Sign in with the same provider you used to create your account. We'll show you the account details and ask you to confirm before anything is deleted.

Can't sign in? Email contact@careertryout.com with the email tied to your account, or have a parent or guardian email on your behalf if you're a 14–17 user. We'll process within 30 days.

What gets deleted

When you confirm deletion, we permanently remove the following from our database in a single transaction:

  • Your account profile — display name, avatar URL, age band, friend code, internal player ID
  • Your linked social accounts — the OAuth subject IDs we received from Google or Facebook
  • Your active sessions and refresh tokens — you'll be signed out everywhere immediately
  • Your gameplay progress — career exploration, mission completions, scores, XP, badges, skill points
  • Your activity logs — daily/weekly/monthly challenge entries, streak counter
  • Your friendships — the link between your player ID and your friends' player IDs
  • Your diagnostic error reports tied to your player ID

What may be retained

  • Aggregate, anonymized statistics — totals like "X missions completed across all users" — these contain no personal data
  • Records required by law — for example, a lawful preservation request received before deletion

What about local data on your device?

The app stores a read-only catalog cache and your session tokens in your device's secure storage. To clear these as well, sign out of the app or uninstall it — the secure storage is wiped automatically.
